FULL ITINERARY
DAY 1: LAKE DULUTI DAY TRIP
Pick-up from your accommodation in Arusha around 8:30 AM. From here, it’s a short drive of approximately 30 minutes (about 14 kilometers) to Lake Duluti, a lush crater lake found near the base of Mount Meru.
Lake Duluti’s origins trace back to a volcanic eruption that left behind this little crater, now filled with water and surrounded by thick, yet endangered forests teeming with birdlife and lush vegetation. Interestingly, the lake is adjacent to Arusha National Park, separated only by a stretch of forest, which adds to its wild vide.
Whilst here, you’ll enjoy a range of activities, including canoeing on the calm waters, a guided nature walks around the crater rim, or simply soaking in the quiet serenity while watching African fish eagles and several others gliding overhead. If you are interested in botany, the walk around the lake is an opportunity to learn about various indigenous tree species. Take a moment to enjoy your lunch at the café near the lake, and sample freshly made Tanzanian dishes.
In the early evening, you’ll make your way back to Arusha, arriving and dropping off at your hotel.

DAY 2: NGORONGORO CRATER - FULL DAY
Hop in and buckle the seat belts of your safari vehicle and head westwards to the legendary Ngorongoro Crater past Lake Manyara National Park. Such a long drive is bound to starve and so it’s important to eat your breakfast very early this morning. With full bellies, get ready for an unforgettable day full of adventures as you enter the world’s largest unbroken caldera – Ngorongoro Crater.From the gate, ascend through lush forested hills to the crater rim, where the breathtaking sight of the Ngorongoro Crater – an ancient volcanic caldera about 610 meters deep, unveil below.
Unlike Serengeti, where the Great Migration takes place, wildlife in Ngorongoro remains largely resident, thriving within the natural setting formed by the crater walls. The crater itself is one of the few places on Earth where you can spot the African Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo) in a single day. Terrestrial wildlife such as wildebeest, zebras, hyenas, warthogs, and countless other species that contribute to the crater’s rich ecosystems, are common to spot on typical game drives.
At midday, enjoy a picnic lunch in the shades of the Lerai Forest, where you might catch sight of elephants or baboons wandering nearby. After lunch, resume your game drive, taking in the crater’s diverse habitats, including open grasslands, dense forest, and the seasonal Munge River.Late in the afternoon, ascend the crater walls and begin your trip back to Arusha, arriving in the evening. Drop-off will be at your hotel, marking the end to a day full of lifetime memories.
