Arusha City Tour and Tarangire Safari

After breakfast this morning, we leave and go on a full day game drive in Tarangire National Park. After about 2-hour road trip, we arrive in Tarangire, and check-in at the park entry gate.

Named after the Tarangire River, the park is known for delivering some of Tanzania’s best game viewing opportunities. Popular for its large elephant herds and baobab tree, known locally as the “upside-down tree” for their root-like branches, the experience here is nothing short of breathtaking. The river acts as a magnet for wildlife during the dry season, attracting animals like zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, as well as predators. Bird lovers can also spot an array of avian species such as Bustard, Superb starling, Black-headed heron, to name a few.

It’s worth paying close attention to the geographical diversity of the park; rolling hills, sprawling grasslands, and lush swamps that connect with the neighboring Lake Manyara’s ecosystem. Depending on the time of year, you might spot migratory wild animals that follow the seasonal pattern of the park, especially during the dry months when the riverbanks become the focal point of animal activity. Don’t miss the chance to marvel at the baobab, which is believed by the locals to hold some spiritual vitality. Guides would often joke about these ancient trees as the “sleeping giants of Tarangire,” their hollow trunks offering refuge to everything from bees to elusive leopards.

In the afternoon, we’ll stop for a relaxing picnic lunch at a designated spot, surrounded by the sounds of nature, before resuming your game drive. Around late afternoon, we head back to Arusha, arriving at your hotel in the evening, with memories of an unforgettable safari.
