After breakfast, the adventure begins as we leave for Tarangire National Park – our first stop in this safari.Named after the Tarangire River, the park is sometimes described as Serengeti’s quieter counterpart, due to its best game viewing opportunities. Moreover, the park is famous for its large herds of elephant and the baobab tree. Here, the river acts as a drawcard for wildlife during the dry season (between June and October), making game-viewing very easy.
Tarangire is also home to buffalo, zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, wildebeest, gerenuk, and many more terrestrial wild animals. Bird enthusiasts will also discover a paradise here, with the park recording more than 500 species of avian species, such as Red-billed Teal, Scaly Francolin, African Crake, to name a few.In the afternoon, take a break for a well-prepared picnic lunch, before resuming the game drive. By late afternoon, you’ll head to the appropriate accommodation in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Day 3-5: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
The main focus in these two days is to explore the Seronera Area – a wildlife-rich region of Serengeti National Park, home to the Earth’s largest terrestrial migration of wild animals, known as The Great Migration. This area is particularly renowned for its intense predator-prey interactions, thanks to its high concentration of wildlife. After breakfast, the morning game drive unfolds with astonishing scenes, the raw scents of the wilderness, and an unending procession of animals, all brought to life by your Ilepeta safari guide.
The Seronera River, a lifeline cutting through the plains, sustains an immense variety of wildlife, making it a prime spot for game viewing. Scattered across the landscape, the kopjes – distinctive granite outcrops – serve as natural lookout points for predators. Permanent lion prides claim these rocky formations as their territory, while leopards are often seen draped over branches or surveying the land from their perches. With such dynamic ecosystems at play, every game drive promises a new perspective on the beauty of the Serengeti.
In the afternoon, you will return to the lodge for lunch or take it with you on game drives to make the most of your time in the wild. Lunch itself will be an unforgettable experience, enjoyed in the heart of the bush. Afterward, you set out again in search of wildlife. The countless animals and birds are the true stars of the show, and nature’s dramas can unfold at any moment. Since wildlife follows no schedule, you may encounter lions, leopards, elephants, zebras, cheetahs, or antelopes at any time during your drive. Keep an eye out for the Kori Bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird – resembling a lumbering cargo plane, it can weigh up to 15 kg and boasts a wingspan of nearly three meters. As the afternoon comes to a close, you will return to your accommodation for dinner and well-earned rest.
